Keen to get into the spirit of the World Cup, Park Village Productions have created a wonderful short film directed by Tom Carty encapsulating the rollercoaster ride that the England football squad regularly put fans through in living rooms across the nation.
With reference to the painful absence of the trophy since 1966, 'World Cup Pain' delivers a wonderfully tense and desperate cameo of the ninety minute journey of obsessive England fan. From his pre-match tensions and goal-scoring euphoria, through to his final despair as he realises (once again) that his hopes are merely a dream.
Using their own central London studio, lighting and camera equipment, the spot was filmed over one day at Park Village Studios, with editing and sound finishing generously provided by The Quarry and Wave Studios.
True to form, England took us to the wire on Tuesday evening with extra time and penalties .... on Saturday we have to do it all again.

‘Enjoy the Ride’ is a new campaign for Suzuki UK created by Red Brick Road and directed by Blinkink's Noah Harris. The film was shot in two locations over a week with 10 stunt drivers.
Post-production studio nineteentwenty were tasked with the challenge of combining action footage from an indoor dodgems studio with a busy exterior funfair set.
Duncan Horn, nineteentwenty VFX Supervisor:
"We inserted elements shot at the exterior funfair into the interior studio background. To ensure continuity, we built a 3D map of the set and the landmarks that would surround the three open sides of the dodgems arena. The shots were all camera tracked around this space, so we were able to easily match each shot to the correct background landmarks.”
“The set was dressed with some fun fair lighting and rides already but we wanted to enhance the effect and add bigger background rides to make it feel like a busy fairground. It wasn’t strong enough to hold the chicken wire roof that normally powers the dodgems arena, so we built this in post and added the trademark wire sparks as the cars whizz around. We also added smoke canons to the shot of the car doing donuts and various other elements.”
